Memories

I never kept a diary and now I'm getting 'a bit long in the tooth', time to time something will provoke an old memory, a sound, a fragrance, music, a familiar place etc.
This is a good place to jot them down, as the old memory is fading these days and I'm sure my four Grandsons would like to know more about me. If you find it interesting. then 'Be my guest' read away, I have little to hide.
If I provoke one of your memories on these pages, let us know, make a comment!

Edmundo Ros

I've just been watching a programme I recorded on TV, it was a documentary called " I sold my Cadillac to Diana Dors". It was about the Famous Edmundo Ros a Bandleader and owner of the equally famous "Coconut Grove" he renamed "Edmundo Ros' Dinner and Supper Club", in Regent Street, London.
When I was around ten years old, my Mum and Dad were invited to a party at his house near Lancaster Gate, they were asked to bring the kids, as was done in those days. I remember speaking with him but can't remember the subject, probably just a little chat. But what I do remember is- I picked up his favourite pair of 'Maracas' and started fooling around with them. being concerned I might damage them he quietly said, "You have good rhythm, but be careful, there are 'Death Watch Beetles' in them", I quickly put them down and never touched them again!
